TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION COURSE

The Wound Care Nurse (W.C.N.) certification course is a national premier program formulated to meet the educational needs of the nursing professionals working in different clinical settings in the area of wound care. This program includes a course review of wound care, a skills competency lab to provide nurses the hands on experience needed to function as a Wound Care Nurses, and ends with a skills check and theory examination. Course attendance will increase the knowledge, skills, ability and confidence of practicing nurses to improve care of patients with wounds.

  • Wound Care dressings: Properties & uses
  • Conservative Sharp Debridement
  • Role of Wound Care Nurse: Assessment, Documentation, Infection Control, Consultation, Monitoring & Reporting.
  • Skills Lab: Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) Dressing, Multi-Layer Compression Dressing, Wound culture technique and Aseptic dressing change technique.
CERTIFICATION

Upon completion of the class and passing the skills check and the theory examination, each student will earn the designation W.C.N. and the graduation certificate.
